Samantha Ruth Prabhu celebrated India's Independence Day with the Indian diaspora in the USA. She took part in the 41st India Day Parade held in New York and greeted the fans with a lot of excitement.
“Jai Hind. It’s truly an honour to be here today. You have made me realise how rich my culture and heritage is. Things I saw today will last for a lifetime. Thank you for supporting me throughout my career. Thank you, USA for supporting every single film of mine as your own," Samantha said while speaking at the event.
On the career front, Samantha is waiting for the release of Kushi. Written and directed by Shiva Nirvana, Kushi stars Vijay Deverakonda and Samantha in the lead roles. Judging from the trailer, it's clear that it's a coming-of-age relationship drama that explores the problems of modern-day couples.
Kushi has generated a lot of good buzz among the movie buffs. The film also stars Sachin Khedekar, Saranya Ponvannan, Murali Sharma and Lakshmi among others. The film tells the story of a couple who marry each other against the wishes of their parents. However, soon after marriage, the rosy dream about married life begins to unravel in the face of reality, pitting the couple against each other.
Kushi is due in cinemas on September 1.
Samanatha has also finished shooting for Prime Video's upcoming web series Citadel: India. Created by Raj and DK, the series also stars Varun Dhawan in the lead.
It's said that Samantha will take a year-long break from movies to focus on her mental and physical health. She will repeatedly stay in the USA for some time to continue treating her autoimmune condition Myositis. Last year, the actor opened up about her medical condition, which she said has turned her life upside down. Although her condition is not life-threatening, she revealed that getting out of bed every day was a big struggle.
