Nayanthara is currently the highest paid female star in the South Indian film industry
Samantha Ruth Prabhu is one of the most celebrated and followed South Indian stars. The actor, who busted the moves in the sensational song Oo Antava from Pushpa, is now reportedly the second highest female star in South India.
According to multiple reports, the star has increased her remuneration for projects following the pan-Indian success of the item number from Allu Arjun’s Pushpa: The Rise.
Reports suggest that the actor charged Rs 1.5 crore for the song Oo Antava and has now increased her fees to Rs 3 crore per film. Her remuneration is also expected to increase up to Rs 5 crore depending on the size of the production.
While Samantha reaches the top of the most paid female actor list, the first place is occupied by Nayanthara. Nayanthara and Samantha will be seen together with Vijay Sethupathi in the romantic comedy Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal, which is scheduled to release on April 28.
Samantha had earlier thanked Allu Arjun for the song in an interview with IANS. “There were many inhibitions. I was not ready as I feared how the song would turn out to be. But, Allu Arjun sat down and convinced me. Without his encouragement, I would not have accepted to do ‘Oo Antava’.” she said.
While Pushpa: The Rise directed by Sukumar went on to be a massive box office success, the song became an instant sensation, even before the movie’s release. Released in five languages, it has over 500 million views combined on YouTube.
Samantha, is currently working on the mythological drama Shaakuntalam, which is written and directed by Gunasekhar. The makers released the first look of the film to much fanfare last month.
