Vicky Kaushal's journey to Sam Bahadur
Earlier, at the trailer launch of Sam Bahadur held in Delhi, Vicky spoke about being a part of the film. The actor had said that when Meghna and he were filming Raazi in Patiala, she revealed her ambitions to him for their future collaboration. She even mentioned that she plans to film a biopic about Sam Manekshaw. Both of Vicky's parents are from Punjab, so he grew up hearing stories about him from them. In any case, the actor had no idea what he looked like. So, he Googled his name while they were talking and caught a glimpse of his photo. Vicky remarked that Sam Manekshaw is quite handsome, and he is not going to get this part. But he owes it all to Meghna, who cast him in the role of this dashing man.
According to the creators, Sam Bahadur will cover Manekshaw's whole 40-year career, from his participation in World War II to his role as Chief of Army Staff during the 1971 Indo-Pakistan conflict, which resulted in the establishment of Bangladesh.
The film is slated to release on December 1, 2023.
