Salaar teaser update: Prabhas-Prashanth Neel’s actioner to have multiple instalments
Salaar is almost here

Prashanth Neel has achieved the unthinkable with the Salaar teaser - the impossible task of pleasing his fans after the KGF series besides finally giving Prabhas fans some reason to cheer about. The glimpse has set the expectations high as film buffs await its release on September 28 with bated breath in five languages. The teaser confirms that the actioner will have multiple instalments.

The first part of Salaar has been officially titled Salaar - Part 1: Ceasefire, as confirmed in the teaser. Much like KGF, the film is set in a greyscale universe, away from reality, where Prabhas is in a monstrous mood, on a killing spree. Is this partly set in a country away from India, given Tinu Anand suggests that would speak ‘only English’ for clarity?

With Prabhas having already committed to multiple films - Project K, Maruthi’s horror comedy and Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Spirit - it is official that the next instalment of Salaar won’t go on floors anytime soon. So, will it feature a different star later or will the team take a call on it after the response to the first part? We may not have answers immediately.

The director has yet again proved that he has it in him to make quality masala cinema that has the spirit of Amitabh Bachchan’s films in the 1970s with a renewed visual aesthetic. Thanks to KGF’s success, Salaar has given him wings to fly with the casting, helping him bring together Prithviraj, Shruti Haasan, Tinu Anand, Easwari Rao, Jagapathi Babu, Sriya Reddy and Garuda Ram.

While Prashanth had the liberty of catering to his Kannada fans with KGF and Ugramm, his main target audience will be the Telugu crowds for Salaar. Yet, one needs to remember the two parts of KGF were a roaring success in the Telugu states and the director already has a fan-base here. Where is Salaar universe headed? We’ll get to know in about 12 weeks.
