Salaar director Prashanth Neel took a moment to reflect on how his career in filmmaking has profoundly impacted his personal life.
Filmmaker Prashanth Neel is anxiously waiting to see how his latest directorial outing Salaar, starring Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, will be received by fans at the box office. And in the meantime, he also reflected on how his profession as a filmmaker has deeply affected his personal life.
In a recent interview, Prashanth was asked whether the central theme of friendship in Salaar had any parallels in his own life. In a poignant revelation, he expressed deep regrets about his personal relationships, stating, "I have been a bad father, bad son, bad husband, bad brother and a horrible friend. Everything I have sacrificed for cinema and what I want to get out of the cinema," he said.
Prashanth's sincere admission struck a chord with Prithviraj, who shared a video clip of Prashanth's remarks, hinting that he, too, might harbour similar regrets in his personal life. "I thought I was good with words, but I don’t know how to caption this. Just sort of hit home. If you know what I mean!" he remarked.

Ahead of the release of Salaar, Prashanth took part in a tell-all interview where he demonstrated his candour while sharing the personal struggles and the lessons that he learned during his journey so far in the film industry. Unlike his colleagues, he refused to romanticise the filmmaking process and claimed that at this moment, he only aims to make movies to achieve financial stability.
He revealed that his passion for cinema died when he completed his debut film Ugramm in 2014.
It's noteworthy that Prashanth confirmed that Salaar is an expanded and elevated rendition of Ugramm. Justifying this approach, he explained that since his debut film fell short of the anticipated success at the box office, he aspired to retell the story on a grander scale, reaching a wider global audience.
