Prabhas’ Salaar has witnessed a dip in its Kerala box office collections on Day 2. The action thriller has failed to surpass Mohanlal’s Neru, unlike its opening day.
Salaar, the action thriller that stars Telugu superstar Prabhas in the lead role, has made a massive opening at the worldwide box office. Despite receiving mixed reviews, the Prashanth Neel directorial has emerged as a money-spinner and has already made a total gross collection of Rs. 2.95 crore at the worldwide box office within the first two days of its release.
However, things have a been a little different for Salaar, when it comes to its performance at the Kerala box office. As per the latest updates, the movie witnessed a major dip in the state on its second day, and has failed to beat Mohanlal starrer, Neru.
Salaar witnesses a dip in Kerala box office collections
As per the recent updates from trade experts, the Prabhas starrer witnessed a major downfall in its box office collections on Day 2 (December 23, Saturday), at the Kerala box office. The movie had made a massive opening in the state by making a total collection of Rs. 4.65 crores. However, on the second day of its release, the Prashanth Neel directorial which stars Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran in a pivotal role, has reportedly made Rs. 2.63 crores.
Salaar fails to beat Mohanlal’s Neru on Day 2
Neru, the Mohanlal starrer that hit the theatres a day before Salaar was released, witnessed a major increase in its collection on Saturday. As reported earlier, the courtroom drama’s collections dipped on its second day of release (December 22, Friday), owing to the massive release of Salaar. However, the Jeethu Joseph directorial gained back momentum on Saturday, owing to the rave reviews and excellent word-of-mouth publicity. The movie made a total collection of Rs. 3.12 crore at the worldwide box office, and Rs. 2.87 crore at the Kerala box office alone, on Saturday. So, it is safe to say that Salaar has failed to beat Neru in the state, after its release day.
Salaar’s future at the Kerala box office
If things proceed at the same rate, it will be difficult for Salaar to witness a major increase in its Kerala collections again. Even if the movie performs well at the weekends, it might not last through the next week as it has been receiving mixed reactions from audiences. The Malayalam version of the Prabhas-Prithviraj Sukumaran starrer has clearly disappointed the viewers, owing to its mediocre dubbing and dialogues.
