Prabhas' film Salaar has got the biggest opening of 2023. Directed by Prashanth Neel, the movie has surpassed Pathaan, Jawan and Animal's opening day box office collection.

Filmmaker Prashanth Neel's Salaar, featuring Prabhas, hit the big screen on December 22. The film, which clashed with Shah Rukh Khan's Dunki, registered the biggest opening of 2023. Salaar is off to a thunderous start at the box office. The movie shattered the opening day box office record of Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, Pathaan, and Ranbir Kapoor's Animal. Salaar minted around ₹100 crore on day 1.

Salaar box office collection Day 1

According to early estimates by Sacnilk, Salaar got a massive start at the box office with a collection of ₹95 crore in India. The buzz is that the worldwide collection of Prashanth's film with Prabhas could go up to ₹175 crore. With a collection of ₹95 crore, Salaar has dethroned Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan, Pathaan, and Ranbir's Animal's box office record.

Pathaan, which was released on January 25 (2023), minted ₹57 crore on day one at the box office while Jawan collected ₹75 crore. On the other hand, Ranbir's film, Animal, earned ₹63 crore. For those who are unaware, Salaar is said to be made on a budget of ₹270 crore.

More about Prabhas' film

While Salaar is directed by Prashanth Neel, the film has been produced by Vijay Kiragandur. The star cast of the film also includes Prithviraj Sukumaran, Jagapathi Babu, Shruti Haasan, Bobby Sinha, Tinnu Anand, Sriya Reddy, and others. The first installment of Prashanth's film is called Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire whereas the second part is titled Salaar: Part 2 - Shouryaanga Parvam.

Prabhas' work front

Earlier this year, Prabhas featured in filmmaker Om Raut's Adipurush with Kriti Sanon and Sunny Singh. The mythological film was heavily criticised for its dialogues and bad VFX. The actor's upcoming movie is Kalki 2898 AD with Deepika Padukone, Kamal Haasan, and Amitabh Bachchan. The movie has been directed by Nag Ashwin.
