Salaam Soldier song: Puneeth Rajkumar’s James presents a tribute to jawans

Minutes ago, the team of late Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar’s James released the lyrical video of the song Salaam Soldier, a tribute to jawans. But what is most exciting for fans of Puneeth is that unlike the Trademark song, which barely had visuals of the actor, Salaam Soldier has him from start-to-finish with shots of him from the making and actual footage from the song, especially the Kashmir sequences.

Earlier this year, on the occasion of Republic Day, the makers had revealed a special poster of Puneeth in army fatigues, driving speculation that the actor could be playing a soldier in the film. While more images of him as a soldier were revealed in the interim, when the teaser of the film came out, it painted a different picture. According to the teaser, Puneeth plays a gun-loving agent with an elite security wing, tasked with taking on the mafia. Fans have been speculating that there is a back-story to the actor having been in the army earlier. But the team of the film is tight-lipped about that, so we will have to wait for the film to release in theatres next Thursday to know for sure.

James, produced by Kishore Pathikonda, and directed by Chethan Kumar, will be Puneeth Rajkumar’s last full-fledged commercial film and is being released in five languages – Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Hindi. The film stars Priya Anand, Sarath Kumar, Mukesh Rishi, Tilak, Aditya Menon, Chikkanna, Shine Shetty, John Kokken, among many others.

After James, the late actor is likely to get two more cinema outings – one for his special role in Darling Krishna’s Lucky Man and, of course, for Puneeth’s collaboration with Wild Karnataka maker Amoghavarsha – Gandhada Gudi, a project that he was immensely proud of and keen to present to the people of the state. Gandhada Gudi, however, is not a commercial film, but more of a documentary featuring Puneeth and Amoghavarsha, as they traversed the length and breadth of Karnataka to present some its most natural beauty. It is expected to get a theatrical release later in the year.
