The film formally commenced with a pooja ceremony in Hyderabad this week
Actor Sairam Shankar, brother to filmmaker Puri Jagannadh, who made a mark in films like 143, Danger, Neninthe, to name a few, is on a comeback trail. While he last starred in the 2017 release Nenorakam, he has finalised a series of films for the coming months. Another new film of the actor, to be directed by a debutant Prakash Jureddy, was formally launched in Hyderabad with a pooja ceremony recently.
The untitled film (tentatively titled Production No 1) is backed by Ramani Jureddy under VNR Creations. The grand launch event was held at Polavaram Bangaramma Ammavaru temple. The film is touted to be a village action drama based on true incidents in the 90s. A dialogue from the film, ‘Ganga thalapai unnantha varake Sivudu challaga untadu..kantlonchi gaani neeru jaarinda..sivamethuthadu..’ was delivered by the lead actor for the first shot.
However, the major highlight of the project is the collaboration between director Vamsy and composer Ilaiyaraaja. Before you begin the guessing game, we’ll tell you how! Vamsy, the director behind iconic films Ladies Tailor, Anveshana and Sithara, is turning a lyricist for the project. Ilaiyaraaja, who was in the news for films like Custody, Music School and Rangamarthanda, is the music director for the same.
This isn’t the first time that Vamsy is turning a lyricist. He had written songs for some of his 80s and 90s release in the past including Sri Kanaka Mahalakshmi Recording Dance Troupe, Swarakalpana, Gali Kondapuram Railway Gate, Detective Narada and Anumanaspadam. Mohan Chary, who cranked the camera for Madhura Wines and Jaithra recently, is the cinematographer.
Pushpa fame Karthika Srinivas is the editor and Rehman is another lyricist for the album. The other details about the cast, crew and the shoot details will be announced shortly, the makers said.
