Vikram Vedha, an action film starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan, was one of the most talked-about films of the year. Despite extensive promotion, positive audience and critic reviews, and tremendous buzz, the movie underperformed and didn't bring in significant numbers.

But now, several months after the movie's release, Saif is finally discussing how poorly the movie did at the box office. The actor recently spoke with CNBC-TV18 about his dissatisfaction with the performance of the movie.

Saif said, “The reason we should be very polite to each other is because nobody has any clue of what works and doesn’t work.”

The actor then spoke about how many films are not working well at the box office. “I have no idea but something is happening. People will continue to make movies. Prices will keep fluctuating because our pricing, some of it, is insane. We pay people astronomically and the returns have been not good,” the actor added.

Few Hindi films have actually performed well this year, while South Indian movies like RRR, KGF 2, and Kantara have shattered box office records. This is why Vikram Vedha's box office performance has been so disappointing.

Saif acknowledged the present trend and stated that RRR and KGF are deeply entrenched in the roots of Indian cinema, which the Hindi film business may have strayed from.

Meanwhile, Vikram Vedha, which was made on an extremely high budget, came close to the 80 crore mark at the Indian box office. As a result, it was a commercial failure. The movie has performed well commercially overseas.

The 2017 Tamil thriller of the same name, Vikram Vedha, was officially remade and released on September 30. R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi play prominent roles in the original, which are reprised by Saif and Hrithik in the Hindi version, respectively.
