Sai Pallavi was the first choice for Maheshinte Prathikaram: Producer Santhosh Kuruvila
Maheshinte Prathikaram is a Malayalam film that has gained popularity even outside Kerala. Directed by Dileesh Pothan, the movie has a huge fan base, and its scenes are often seen floating on social media. Fahadh Faasil and Aparna Balamurali played the lead roles, contributing to the film’s commercial success. In a recent interview, Maheshinte Prathikaram’s producer, Santhosh T Kuruvila, disclosed that Preman star Sai Pallavi was initially considered for the character played by Aparna.
Why did Sai Pallavi decline the offer
According to Santhosh, he initially chose Pallavi for the role, and had even offered an advance payment. However, Pallavi had to decline it, as she had to sit for exams in Georgia, where she was completing her MBBS studies. To avoid delaying the shoot, the makers then decided to cast Aparna instead, who later went on to win National Awards for her performance in other films. During the interview with Silly Monks Mollywood the producer also said that Sai was recommended for the role by Anwar Rasheed, who recognised her talent in Premam.

‘Aishwarya Lekshmi was not the first for Maayanadhi’
Speaking about his other productions, Santhosh also said that Maayanadhi also had a similar change. According to him, Aishwarya Lekshmi, who played the female lead, was not the initial choice. “We had a new face for the female lead in Maayanadhi but that actress was not comfortable with the costumes. That’s when we decided to offer the role to Aishwarya,” said Santhosh.
