The actress made her Telugu debut with the comic caper Shikaaru earlier this year
Sai Dhanshika, who shot to fame with films like Kabali, Solo, Aravaan, Peranmai and Paradesi, finally made her Telugu cinema debut with the comic caper Shikaaru (Streaming on aha) in 2022. She's back in the news for signing another Telugu film - a suspense thriller titled Dakshina, in which she plays the lead protagonist. The film is a suspense thriller to be helmed by Osho Tulasi Ram, best known for directing Charmme Kaur's thrillers Mantra and Mangala.
Ashok Shinde is bankrolling the film under Cult Concepts. Dakshina officially went on floors today with a puja ceremony and also commenced its principal shoot. The grand launch event was held at Narasihma Reddy Engineering College in Hyderabad. Producer Vamsi Krishna was the chief guest at the event, while also switching on the camera. Pranathi and Shwetha Bhavana had sounded the clapboard.
The producer Ashok Shinde expressed his happiness on making a film with Osho Tulasi Ram and Sai Dhanshika. He felt that Dakshina would be a trendsetter, just like the director's earlier films Mantra and Mangala. The film's shoot will be wrapped across three schedules (the first schedule had commenced today). The current schedule will go on till September 24 while the team heads to Goa next for another 15-day schedule. The final 10-day schedule will be held in November.
The other cast and crew details will be revealed shortly. Rishabh Basu, Subhash, Ananda Bharathi and others play important roles in the film which has music by Balaji and cinematography by Narsing. While Osho Tulasi Ram had also directed Criminals earlier, his other films Mantra and Mangala can be streamed on Youtube and SunNXT respectively. Some of other Dhanshika's notable works include Iruttu, Ya Ya and Laabam.
