The film, directed by Ajay Devgn, also features Aakanksha Singh, Boman Irani, and Carry Minati
Runway 34 marks Ajay Devgn’s third stint in the director’s chair. The film’s thrilling premise, inspired by true events, also has to its credit, a stellar cast led by Devgn, Amitabh Bachchan and Rakul Preet Singh. Singh recently opened up about her experience of sharing the screen with Devgn and Bachchan in the film.
In a conversation with IANS, the actress revealed that she wasn’t the least bit intimidated at the thought of working with the seasoned stars. She said that challenges were something that she looked forward to and which excited her, and the thought of sharing the screen with Bachchan gave her ‘happy energy’. Referring to herself as someone who rarely gets intimidated, the actress talked about how unwise it was to give into such feelings. “I feel that if in the moment what you have worked for, all your life, you give into intimidation then you have lost the plot,” she said.
Calling Devgn someone who is very ‘approachable’ and ‘welcoming’, Singh recalled meeting him for the very first time on the sets of De De Pyaar De (2019). She said that she was ‘nervous’ at first, as she had grown up watching the actor’s films and had deep admiration for him. But seeing how warm and respectful he was, she quickly got over her nervousness.
The actress also opened up about how Runway 34 was shot in the cockpit of a real plane and their training with a real simulator. She also talked about how difficult it was to shoot in such a confined space, in which there were about seven cameras installed.
Singh talked about how challenging it was to film some of the high tension scenes in the cockpit where they were required to showcase tension and fear and react as if they were in turbulence. “To create that tension and fear in a small cockpit. Thinking that there is turbulence and reacting that way so of course it was a lot of toll. But I think that is what gives you the kick,” said the actress.
Runway 34 will land in theatres on April 29, 2022.
