The movie also stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rakul Preet Singh, Boman Irani and YouTuber CarryMinati, among others.
Ajay Devgn’s third directorial titled Runway 34 hit theatres on April 29, and there were discussions about how the movie would do at the box office ahead of its release. The movie has now finished the third day with a solid collection.
According to trade analyst Ramesh Bala, Runway 34 has minted an impressive Rs. 7.25 crore in the country, its highest one day collection since release. The movie reportedly made Rs 3.50 crores on its opening day and Rs. 4.75 crore on its second day. The movie also finished in the top 10 at the New Zealand box office for the weekend, collecting NZ$42,927. (Rs. 21 lakh approx.)
Tiger Shroff’s Heropanti 2 also came out with Runway 34, but the major competition for Ajay Devgn’s action drama comes from Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2. The Kannada movie, dubbed in Hindi, is still going strong and has minted Rs. 11.25 crore on Sunday.
Directed by Ajay Devgn, Runway 34 is the actor’s third directorial effort after U Me Aur Hum and Shivaay. The movie, which also stars Rakul Preet Singh, Amitabh Bachchan, Boman Irani, Angira Dhar, Aakanksha Singh and YouTuber CarryMinati in other roles, has received mixed reviews.
“Runway 34 does make for a good one-time watch, especially for its first half. But a film is incomplete without its latter part, and this one's high on drama but low on charm.” reads the movie’s review on OTTplay.
The movie, which is based on a true story behind the Jet Airways Doha to Kochi flight, 9W 555, is now playing in theatres around the world.
