One film old Rukmini Vasanth became an overnight sensation with her second and third, Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side A and Side B, with her character Priya winning hearts and making her Karnataka’s new crush. The actress’ performance as Priya, especially her expressive eyes, found a new fan following, not only among Kannadigas, but in other states too.

Even before Sapta Sagaradaache Ello released, based on the fact that she had been signed up for a Rakshit Shetty film, she had become much sought after, and bagged biggies like Bhairathi Ranagal with Shivarajkumar and Bagheera with Sriimurali back home and an as-yet-untiled film with Vijay Sethupathi, which will mark her Tamil cinema debut.

Rukmini, who is yet to announce a post Sapta Sagaradaache Ello signing is rumoured to be in contention for a role in director Gautam Tinnanuri’s film with Vijay Devarakonda, which was earlier said to be for Sreeleela. The fact that none of Sreeleela’s Telugu films so far have managed to set the box office on fire, including, most recently, Guntur Kaaram, the makers have had second thoughts and are considering Tripti Dimri and Rukmini instead. The buzz is that since Tripti’s Bollywood schedule is quite chock-a-block, Rukmini will get the role.

Interestingly, Rukmini’s fans back home are not too enthused about her Tollywood entry opposite Vijay Devarakonda and have been taking to social media asking her not to do the film. Posts about this possible collaboration had her fans en masse replying with “Beda Rukku”. They fear that like Rashmika Mandanna and then Sreeleela, who began their careers in Kannada cinema and then moved on to Telugu films, to never return, Rukmini too will be lost to them if she takes up the project with VD.

The ‘upsetting’ news came on a day when fans were overjoyed that there was news about Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side B’s OTT release. Rakshit Shetty had announced that the film will be on Amazon Prime shortly.
