Rukmini Maitra’s Binodini: Ekti Natir Upakhyan has a release date now

Real-life Tollywood couple, Dev and Rukmini Maitra, will be seen in the thriller Tekka where Rukmini plays a cop and Dev a kidnapper.

The real-life Tollywood couple, Dev and Rukmini Maitra, will play adversaries this Puja in Srijit Mukherji’s thriller Tekka. While Rukmini plays a cop, Dev plays a kidnapper in this hostage drama. 

The team Tekka is busy on their promotional trail.  Amid this, another piece of news came out before Puja. Dev and Rukmini will again team up at the beginning of 2025 but in a different capacity. On January 23, 2025, Rukmini’s film Binodini: Ekti Natir Upakhyan will be released. Dev and Rukmini shared the news on Mahalaya. The film is directed by Ram Kamal Mukherjee. 

Binodini Dasi was a 19th-century Bengali actress on the stage. Rukmini in that look stunned the audience earlier. Dev produces the film. He shared a motion poster of the film, announcing the release date. 

The post-production ended a long time ago. Dev spent lavishly to make this big-budget film a success. It was supposed to be released after the parliamentary election, in 2024, but it got postponed. The shooting ended in March 2023. 

To become Binodini, Rukmini took training under Sudipta Chakraborty. She took lessons in Dancing, too. In an interview, Rukmini previously said that she learnt Kathak under Souvik Chakraborty, a disciple of Birju Maharaj. Manisha Basu was her teacher in classical dance. During the process, Rukmini wore only sarees. 

Dev’s film Khadaan will be released in December. Within a month, Rukmini’s film will be released. So, the couple will be tremendously busy this winter. 

Meanwhile, Ram Kamal has started shooting his next, Lakshmikantapur Local. The film will feature Paoli Dam, Rituparna Sengupta, Kaushik Ganguly, and Indraneil Sengupta. The film delves into the lives of women who take the said local train from different rural areas of South 24 Parganas and come to Kolkata to work as domestic helps in elite families.
