Rukmini and Chaithra want those who missed Side A in theatres and caught it on OTT to give Side B a chance on the big screen
Kannada filmmaker Hemanth M Rao has a reputation – as a filmmaker, he caters to a niche audience. Among this group, Hemanth’s film are a must-watch that they keenly wait for. His latest Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, which was split in two parts, the first of which came on September 1, with the second due on November 17, was also seen as a film that is not for everyone. His fans, and those of leading man Rakshit Shetty, made a beeline for theatres when Side A came out. Based on the good word-of-mouth publicity, another section of audiences watched the first part when it then came on OTT, many of who then exclaimed that they should have caught it in theatres after all.
Sapta Sagaradaache Ello Side A dropped on OTT within a month of its theatrical outing and Side B is also expected to be on Amazon Prime Video by mid-December. But the film’s leading ladies – Rukmini Vasanth and Chaithra J Achar – are hopeful that audiences will catch Side B in theatres only, because, according to them, it is meant for a big-screen viewing. Promoting the film in the absence of Hemanth and Rakshit, Rukmini and Chaithra recently listed why they think Sapta Sagaradaache Ello has to be seen in theatres – the film’s sound design, Charan Raj’s music and cinematographer Advaitha Gurumurthy’s visual landscape.
The sound design, says Rukmini, is what makes audiences get wholly immersed in the narrative. In a theatre, you are enveloped by the various sounds in the film. Audiences will understand the story if they watch it at home, but they will not get the experience of the big screen, she reckons. Chaithra echoes this and says that a home viewing is never as effective because of all the other sounds and disturbances, like, say, from the kitchen, or of traffic from the road, etc. Chaithra adds that Sapta Sagaradaache Ello is also a visual treat. While cinematographer Advaitha Gurumurthy’s work on Side A was widely compared to a painting, Side B, says Chaithra, will be even better, with a different colour palette. And last, but not the least, both Rukmini and Chaithra say in unison that Charan Raj’s music also has to be experienced in a theatre.
