Rudhiram star Aparna Balamurali on fight sequences: ‘Have not done anything unrealistically’

Starring Aparna Balamurali and Raj B Shetty, Rudhiram will release in theatres on December 13, 2024.

After the phenomenal success of Kishkindha Kaandam, Aparna Balamurali is back with another thriller Rudhiram which also stars Kannada actor Raj B Shetty. The Malayalam film Rudhiram, directed by Jisho Lon Anthony, is set to release in theatres on December 13, 2024. The actress recently spoke about her experience of working in the movie for which she has even done action sequences.

During a promotional interview ahead of Rudhiram’s release, Aparna Balamurali said that the film has been a new experience for her.

Rudhiram's trailer was released recently and it showed Aparna Balamurali’s character in action mode too. In the riveting Rudhiram trailer, Aparna's character is first seen trapped in a room and looks desperate to break free. Later on, she is seen fighting in the woods and even wielding weapons, including a bow and arrow.

“With fight sequences and everything, Rudhiram was a new experience for me. Really enjoyed it. The film has a new treatment. It is very different from the other movies I have done,” she added.

However, the actress was quick to clarify that they had not done anything unrealistically. “There are action sequences. But we have not done anything unrealistically. It is a very rooted (action) choreography. And for fight sequences, I got training and all,” she added.

Speaking further about her character in the movie, Aparna said that her character has many shades.

“There are very few characters in the movie. If you look at the screen space, that is also more. But more than anything else, characters have a range of shades. Even my character has a lot of shades. We decide the right and wrong in our actions. All these have been incorporated wonderfully in the movie... very interesting the way in which the character is showcased in the movie throughout,” she said.

Her co-star Raj B Shetty too said that all characters in Rudhiram have shades of grey.

Aparna Balamurali on getting performance-oriented roles

Aparna Balamurali was seen last in Kishkindha Kaandam, alongside Asif Ali and Vijayaraghavan. The mystery film won praise for its narrative and the performance of the lead actors.

When asked about female actors complaining about not getting enough roles to perform, the National Award-winning actress said that most of the movies coming her way have been performance-oriented.

“I generally don’t have that complaint. I always have had the opportunity to perform in movies. I have been offered such movies and characters,” she added.
