Directed by S.S. Rajamouli, the period action drama hit theatres on March 25
The father-son duo of KV Vijayendra Prasad and S.S. Rajamouli has delivered yet another great movie with RRR. Prasad has now opened up about the possibilities of a sequel to the movie starring Ram Charan and Jr NTR.
Talking to Mid-Day, the writer said that he believes RRR can lend itself to a sequel. “We can take the two heroes on another action-based adventure outside India, in other British colonies that existed in 1920. But we haven’t discussed that possibility yet.” he said.
However, he confirmed that their priority now is their yet-untitled next with Mahesh Babu. He added that this project will take over two years and so there is no point in discussing sequels to RRR.
Talking about how the movie came about, Prasad says that after Baahubali, Rajamouli wanted to do a multi-starrer and they started to discuss possible combinations of stars and landed on Ram Charan and Jr NTR. This decision was made because of the director’s relationship with the stars.
RRR hit theatres across the world in Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and other foreign languages, and has smashed every box office record for an Indian film. With a record first day opening collection of Rs. 223 crore, the Hindi version of the movie alone has already crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark.
Telling the fictionalized stories of Komaram Bheem(NTR) and Alluri Sitarama Raju (Charan), the movie has received glowing reviews.
“The director is very aware of the fan base that Jr NTR and Ram Charan, who play the lead characters, enjoy and knows they'll be his core audience - he does give them a reason to cheer every now and then. “ reads the movie’s review on OTTPlay.
