Despite that, RRR has broken many Box Office records on its opening day.
SS Rajamouli’s RRR has managed to beat his movie Baahubali: The Conclusion’s Box Office collection record on day one. However, his actor Prabhas has rather beat him in a few metropolitan cities. Prabhas’ debut Hindi film, Saaho, which starred Shraddha Kapoor as the female lead, has a better opening than RRR in these metropolitan cities.
The metropolitan cities we talk about, here, are India’s two biggest cities – Mumbai and Delhi. RRR performed slightly (or almost half of Saaho) behind.
Box Office India has constantly reported that RRR has not been performing well in the Delhi-NCR belt. Rajamouli’s film, which stars Ram Charan and Jr. NTR in the lead roles, did not strike a mark with the Delhiites, especially when they were busy watching Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files. Thus, the Box Office opening day collection for RRR is Delhi was very low.
While Prabhas’ Saaho, which was eventually declared below average, had minted Rs. 6.21 crores on its opening day, RRR went down by almost half of it. The Ram Charan-Jr. NTR starrer earned Rs. 3.85 crores on its first day at the Box Office.
The two places that were affected by not as affected were Mumbai and East Punjab. The collections in East Punjab were slower in the first half but it picked up in the evening. Currently, while Saaho had minted Rs. 2.49 crores there, RRR earned Rs. 1.75 crores nett in East Punjab.
On the other hand, Mumbai, that would have ideally paved way for RRR, also did not show as much excitement as they had during Saaho’s release. Prabhas’ film had earned Rs. 7.30 crores while Rajamouli’s movie minted Rs. 6.50 crores in Mumbai on day one.
Despite the low collections from these belts (lower than Saaho), RRR has still managed to break many records on its opening day. The movie is slowly being accepted all across, including in Bihar, which had completely ignored Akshay Kumar’s Bachchhan Paandey till the movie’s first Sunday. There too, RRR has beat Sooryavanshi’s record opening day (Rs. 55 lakhs) and set a new record with RRR. The Rajamouli directorial earned Rs. 94 lakhs from Bihar itself. This does show that RRR is receiving a positive response and it might make and break new records over the weekend.
