The Jr NTR, Ram Charan starrer has raked in more than $14 million in US alone
RRR, the SS Rajamouli directorial, starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan is still sparkling at the box office despite being in its fifth week of release. Theatres are still witnessing impressive footfalls, particularly during the weekends, and all distributors associated with the film across various regions have raked in wonderful profits. RRR released in five languages - Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam - on March 25 and broke several records within the initial weekend.
The period drama was distributed by Sarigama Cinemas (in collaboration with Raftaar Creations) in the US region and the makers were particularly happy with the innovative promotional strategies adopted by their team to spread the word about RRR prior to its release. Well, the results have paid off too, with RRR's theatrical run in the US closing in at a staggering $14.3 million. While the distributors had acquired the rights for about $12 million, they have tasted profits close to $2.5 million.
Sarigama Cinemas earlier in the day had shared a heartfelt thank you note to the team of RRR, expressing their happiness in associating with the 'mega' project. They said it was an honour, privilege to be a part of RRR's success and added that they were touched beyond words for the love and support of audiences for the film. Sarigama conveyed its gratitude to SS Rajamouli, producer DVV Danayya, line producer Karthikeya, Ahmed Golchin (from Phars Films) for trusting them with the film and helping revive the glory of Indian cinema worldwide.
Adding that DVV Entertainments was one of the most organised production houses they had ever worked with, Sarigama Cinemas called RRR a watershed milestone for the Indian film industry. They are hopeful of working with DVV Entertainments and SS Rajamouli again in the near future. Besides, the distribution house thanked the Qube team, Walls and Trends for standing by them at the time of RRR's release.
