The Baahubali director’s much-anticipated movie, starring Ram Charan and NTR Jr, released in theatres on March 25 with fans shows beginning as early as midnight
The hugely-anticipated RRR, from Baahubali director SS Rajamouli, finally hit theatres on March 25. Starring Ram Charan and NTR Jr in the lead, the hype for the period film has been unreal. With advance booking of the movie going through the roof across India, viewers have been queuing up for the film to catch its midnight and early morning shows.
The movie, which is set in 1920, revolves around the lives of two revolutionaries – Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem, who fought against the British. Touted to be made on a budget exceeding Rs 500 crore, the movie is one of the most expensive films till date.
With a cast also featuring Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn, Ray Stevenson, Shriya Saran, Samuthirakani and Edward Sonnenblick, the film has enough and more star power to appeal to all kinds of audience across India.
The movie, which had completed its shoot in 2020, has been deferred multiple times due to the COVID-19 pandemic. With it finally releasing in theatres worldwide, did it live up to the hype? Audience from across the globe, who have caught the early shows, have been flooding Twitter with their reviews. Let’s see how the movie measured up and if it fulfils the potential of becoming a global phenomenon like Rajamouli’s previous two movies from the Baahubali franchise did.
A common sentiment across reviews was that fans are thrilled with Ram Charan’s performance as Alluri Sitarama Raja in the movie.
Most of the audience also praised the film's interval portions as well as the climax. The length of the movie, however, was a bit of a bother for some, but the second half's emotions and climax did redeem that, according to some tweets.
Apart from being packed with action, songs and strong performance, the film's emotional and patriotic scenes seem to have worked with the most with the audience.
In an earlier interview with us, Rajamouli said, " I can only deliver emotions that everybody can resonate with it," and in that regard the filmmaker once again seem to have hit the bullseye. But whether it would scale the heights of Baahubali, we will have to wait and watch.
