The latest conversation released by team RRR offers a sneak peek into the significance of music in the lives of Jr NTR, Ram Charan
No Telugu movie has been promoted in the scale of RRR since the eight-decade existence of the industry. RRR, directed by SS Rajamouli, is a historical fiction drama based on real-life warriors Alluri Sitaramaraju, Komaram Bheem, starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, Ajay Devgn and others in key roles. As part of the various conversations released by the team, the latest one has the film's composer MM Keeravaani interacting with Jr NTR, Ram Charan amid a lush green garden and lawns on a chilly morning.
At the beginning, the composer talks of rekindling many of their past experiences and even comes up with a title for the interview (on the lines of RRR) - Remember, React, Record. The very first question in the chat is a bouncer for the stars, where the composer asks them to name their least-favourite song from his career. After initial hesitation, Jr NTR says he doesn't like the 'Bheemavaram Bulloda' song from Allari Alludu at all.
Ram Charan tries to be in the good books of the music director but eventually says he didn't like a song by Keeravaani from a small-budget film he did in 2021 though he can't recollect its name. Keeravaani offers an expression that he too can't recollect the albums he did in 2021 (surprising, given he did only 2 films in 2021 - Pelli SandaD, Kondapolam). Jr NTR tries to back Ram Charan that he is never good with names and recollects an incident where he called his swimming instructor by three different names.
MM Keeravaani goes back in time to discuss two films he worked with the stars' fathers - (Chiranjeevi and Harikrishna) - Gharana Mogudu and Seethayya. Keeravaani is nostalgic about the memories associated with the making of the Bangaru Kodipetta song in Gharana Mogudu and the topic later shifts to popular dialogues from Seethayya, and how he simultaneously composed the film's songs along with Jr NTR's Simhadri.
Elaborating on their favourite modern-day Telugu singers, Jr NTR names Mohana Bhogaraju and Geetha Madhuri as his favourites, appreciating the former for her song Ooriki Uttharana in Aravinda Sametha and the latter for her number Jai Balayya in Akhanda. Ram Charan confesses to liking Mangli, the voice behind Sarangadariya in Love Story. The more interesting part of the conversation is about how Ram Charan had learnt music in his childhood for over 6 years in Hyderabad, Chennai and how his sister Sushmitha didn't quite please her music teacher.
On a serious note, the composer suggests that Telugu stars tend to get carried away with combinations with popular directors and forget the importance of a story. He even dropped a bombshell that a few stars even feel insecure about having slow songs in their albums. Jr NTR, respecting MM Keeravaani's opinion, felt he and Ram Charan are beyond a stage where they get nosy about such matters.
Jr NTR spoke of anger management on sets and his fitness regime, claiming one needs to keep their mouth in check to be fit and healthy. He said that fitness largely boils down to what one eats. On a final note, the conversation came down to the stars' favourite songs in RRR. NTR mentioned that Dosti and Komuram Bheemudo were his favourites while Ram Charan claimed that Janani was the song he liked the most. MM Keeravani concurred with Ram Charan and the happy, jolly conversation came to a close.
