Here’s a list of all the actresses who rejected RRR.
RRR is now the most popular Indian film on Netflix around the world
SS Rajamouli's RRR already accomplished the difficult task of gaining attention from reviewers and audiences abroad. But, it is unclear why the Film Federation of India decided to choose a film that wasn't nearly as well-known or discussed as RRR. On March 25, the Rajamouli-directed film was released, and ever since then, the audience have only been gushing over it and the leading actors' performances.
Two Indian revolutionaries named Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR) battle the British Raj in the epic period drama. RRR, according to Hindustan Times outperformed Rajamouli's 2015 movie Baahubali: The Beginning in terms of lifetime earnings. Olivia Morris, a British actor who plays Jennifer, garnered a lot of praise for her character, too.
However, not many know that Bhatt and Morris' characters were earlier turned down by other female actors.
Find the list below:
Shraddha Kapoor
India Today had reported that Shraddha Kapoor was offered a significant role, in which she would have starred opposite Jr NTR. Kapoor was unable to accept the project because of her hectic schedule.
Parineeti Chopra
Few people are aware that Parineeti Chopra was asked by the RRR producers to take Alia Bhatt's role as Sita, Ram Charan's love interest. According to DNA there were rumours that Alia Bhatt was replaced by Parineeti Chopra, due to the latter's busy schedule. "I'll only say that you guys should wait and believe the things we announce," Chopra remarked in response to the rumours in 2019.
Amy Jackson
The makers sought Amy Jackson for the part shortly after Daisy Edgar Jones left. The 2.0 actress couldn't sign on the dotted line, as she had given birth to her first child then.
Isabelle Kaif
Katrina Kaif’s younger sister was approached for an interesting part in the film which she reportedly denied. India Today quoted in a special report stating, “Isabelle Kaif was offered the role of the foreigner, who is seen as Jr NTR's love interest. She refused to accept it because she wanted the script and details of it."
Daisy Edgar Jones
According to DNA, the actress opted out of the film, owing to several delays. She eventually clarified, citing "unavoidable circumstances," in a message, posted to her Instagram account.
Notably, the Hindi dubbed take of RRR arrived on Netflix on May 20, two months after its worldwide theatrical release. The streaming platform stated the Hindi version has been viewed for "over 45 million hours" across the world.
Even the director of RRR was shocked when it became an instant smash on Netflix, outperforming every other Indian film that had been produced before it. SS Rajamouli discussed the impact of the Indian epics Mahabharata and Ramayana on his picture, as well as the expanding influence of Telugu projects, at a recent appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival.
"RRR is now the most popular Indian film on Netflix around the world," Netflix announced on Twitter.
“India has a long tradition of storytelling and has a propensity for telling anything through a story, including the most profound philosophical ideas. Therefore, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana are our greatest cultural assets. I learned these stories as a child, and Telugu films produced the most adaptations of these epics out of all the national languages.”
The director further revealed that he liked the epics “because they had so much action and drama.”
The Baahubali franchise, in which Prabhas played the title role, received praise for its high-octane action, fantastic CGI, and compelling emotional story. People just "started realising, alright, India is only not about Bollywood there are some other industries as well and particularly about my industry which is Telugu Film Industry," stated Rajamouli.
