Directed by S. S. Rajamouli, the upcoming film has cinematography by KK Senthil Kumar
RRR is by far one of the most hyped and anticipated releases of the year. Mounted on a huge scale by none other than Baahubali director SS Rajamouli himself, the film promises to be a grand visual treat. The film’s cinematographer, KK Senthil Kumar, recently opened up about the cinematography of a pivotal scene in the film, which featured Ram Charan and Jr NTR.
In a recent interview, Kumar said that the introduction scene between Charan and Jr NTR’s characters had been a ‘huge and challenging’ sequence to film. Calling it a very intriguing part of the film, he said that it had a lot of scope for VFX work to be done.
He revealed that the particular sequence took almost three years to complete in its entirety, taking fans through the process it involved. Although the crew had started filming that sequence right at the very beginning of the film’s shoot, the final output of the scene got ready only by the time RRR entered its post-production phase. The portions involving the stars were shot first. Afterward, it took several days for the VFX backgrounds to be shot. Both of them were combined later. “It is a challenging sequence and is a major highlight of RRR,” added the cinematographer.
The upcoming film also features Ajay Devgn, Alia Bhatt, Shriya Saran and Samuthirakani, among others. It is a fictionalised story revolving around real-life Indian revolutionaries Komaram Bheem and Alluri Sitarama Raju, essayed by Jr NTR and Charan, respectively.
RRR will be released in theatres on March 25. The movie will be available to stream on Netflix and ZEE5 sometime in June, after its theatrical run.
