Films may come and go, but only rarely can it be called an event and it's certainly one, when a film like RRR, is made by SS Rajamouli. RRR, starring Jr NTR, Alia Bhatt, Ram Charan, Olivia Morris, Ajay Devgn and others released in five languages to an emphatic response from crowds and reviewers alike this Friday. While it's quite common for films to receive praise from the actor fraternity, RRR has also managed to win over Shankar, one of the finest filmmakers in the country behind films like Anniyan, Mudhalvan and Endhiran.

Shankar tweeted, "Ravishing,Riveting,Robust.A Roar that’ll echo throughout times. Thanks to the whole team for an unparalleled experience. @AlwaysRamCharan - Raging Performance & Screen presence. @tarak9999‘s Radiant Bheem captivates your heart. Ur imagination stays undefeated, hats off “MahaRaja”mouli." It's unusual for a filmmaker to heap such huge praise on a contemporary and the tweet is a reflection of the sweeping impact created by the film.

RRR, a period drama, is a fictional tale revolving around the friendship between two Telugu warriors - Alluri Sita Ramaraju and Komaram Bheem. The story pits them against one another when Bheem arrives in Delhi to find the wherabouts of a girl captured by the Britishers. RRR spanning over 186 minutes is set largely in the 1920s Delhi and Adilabad and focuses on a phase where the warriors disappeared from their homes before fighting for the causes they believe in.

Interestingly, Shankar's next film, tentatively titled RC15, is also with the RRR star Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, a political drama written by filmmaker Karthik Subbaraj. Two schedules of the film have already been wrapped and the makers are aiming at a Sankranti release in 2023. The film also stars Srikanth, Anjali, Sunil and others as well. S Thaman is composing music for the drama produced by Dil Raju.
