Paradise - This project, which was directed by Sri Lankan filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage, won numerous awards at international film festivals.
Paradise, a multilingual film, is reportedly set to release in theatres soon. Major cities in Kerala have already seen the posters for its upcoming theatrical release, which is slated on June 28. The main actors in the film are Darshana Rajendran and Roshan Mathew. Mahendra Perera and Shyam Fernando play supporting roles in Paradise.
This project, which was directed by Sri Lankan filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage, won numerous awards at international film festivals. Mani Ratnam, the filmmaker, presents Paradise under the Madras Talkies banner. There will be an English, Malayalam, Tamil, Hindi, and Sinhala release for the movie.
This year in March, the Paradise trailer was released. The characters played by Roshan and Darshan are seen visiting Sri Lanka to commemorate their fifth wedding anniversary in this two-minute, 18-second video. But after a riot breaks out, the couple is forced to deal with unanticipated circumstances because of the island nation's protests. This challenges their relationship and understanding of each other as well.
In a humorous statement, Darshana concludes the video by saying, "Raavana should wake up from his slumber to save Lanka." All in all, the teaser looks promising for an engaging tale grounded in actual occurrences in the country. Remarkably, the trailer also features the characters speaking in two languages—Malayalam and English—so naturally, the couple seems genuine.
Paradise was chosen for the Kim Jiseok Award category at the Busan Film Festival in 2023. The movie took home the award, with Roshan and Darshana's performances particularly receiving recognition among the viewers. In addition, Paradise screened in the ICONS: SOUTH ASIA section of the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, which was the South Asia Premiere.
The movie has won awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Director among other categories since its debut at the New York Indian Film Festival this month. The 17th Asian Film Awards have nominated it in a number of categories as well.
