Roshan Mathew, who has been part of several noted films such as C U Soon and Kappela in the recent past, has added another great role to his already impressive list of roles with Ibrahim in Kuruthi.
However, talking to the media at the film’s trailer launch recently, the actor said it was challenging to play the character. “(Essaying) Ibrahim definitely wasn't easy,” said Roshan, about his role in the film, which is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. “He is older than me, but not by a lot. Most of the preparation for the role came in trying to figure out where the character stands at the beginning of the movie, what his emotional state is and what he believes at the start of the movie.”
Roshan plays a rubber tapper, who lives with his brother and father in a secluded house. The character comes with a lot of baggage, after having lost loved ones in a landslide a year ago. The actor is being lauded for not getting the emotions of the character right and not overdoing his role.
The young actor also talked about the shoot of the socio-political action thriller. “Though the shoot was over seven months ago, since we wrapped, the only thing that comes to mind when we think about it is the mad amount of fun that it was. Anytime a film is that fun to make, it makes you hopeful that it is also fun for people to watch,” said Roshan.
Kuruthi is a gritty, dark home invasion movie that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. With action and chase scenes, the film never drops its tempo. The movie opened to fairly positive response after its premiere on Amazon Prime Video on August 11.
Directed by Manu Warrier, Kuruthi also features Prithviraj, Murali Gopi, Srinda, Shine Tom Chacko, Manikandan Achari and Mamukkoya.
