Rorschach, which is produced by Mammootty, also has Grace Antony and Sharafudheen as part of its cast
Mammootty’s much anticipated movie Rorschach could be hitting theatres sooner than initially thought. While the makers had earlier signed a deal with the theatre exhibitors to release the movie during the pooja holidays, it was deferred to mid-October. But now it seems that the film is aiming at an October 7 release, with the post-production work complete and the film ready to be screened by the CBFC for its certification.
Rorschach, which is helmed by Kettyolaanu Ente Malakha filmmaker Nissam Basheer, marks Mammootty Kampany’s second production venture after Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerathu Mayakkam. The film was initially set to hit theatres on September 29 and had also signed a contract that it would play in theatres for a minimum of 50 days. However, post-production hassles and the release of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan: I had reportedly forced the makers to look at a later date to release the movie.

October 13 was one of the dates that was locked by the team as it would give enough space for Rorschach to play in theatres before the next big releases – Mohanlal’s Monster and Nivin Pauly’s Padavettu – that are scheduled to release on October 21 during Diwali. Now, the movie seems to be advanced to October 7. An official confirmation from the team is awaited.
Rorschach, which will be Mammootty’s third theatrical release this year after the superhits Bheeshma Parvam and CBI 5: The Brain, already piqued the curiosity of the fans – thanks to its stylishly edited trailer. Mammootty plays a mysterious character named Luke Antony in the movie, which also has Sharafudheen, Grace Antony, Kottayam Nazir, Bindu Panicker and Jagadeesh as part of the cast.
Meanwhile, the megastar completed shooting for B Unnikrishnan’s Christopher earlier this month. The action-thriller, which has him playing a vigilante cop, also stars Amala Paul, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Sneha. Tamil actor Vinay Rai will also be making his Mollywood debut with the film, scripted by Udaykrishna.
