Romancham: When and where to watch Soubin Shahir's horror comedy

The film, directed by Jithu Madhavan, also stars Arjun Ashokan in the lead

The much-awaited Malayalam comedy Romancham is all set to drop on Disney + Hotstar on April 7. The film initially hit screens on February 3 and opened to positive reviews. Now that the film is finally gearing up for its OTT release, fans are quite excited.

The plot revolves around six roommates in Bengaluru who decide to play a game of Ouija. But what starts out as fun, soon gets out of hand, and the spirit they invoke harbours anger and resentment towards the roommates. Things turn upside down for everyone in the house, especially with the arrival of another uninvited guest.

It is said that the film is inspired by real events about a bunch of roommates living in Bangalore. Romancham director Jithu Madhavan seems to have lived with a  bunch of his friends in the mid-2000s. The director had said that though he personally didn't believe in ghosts, he and his friends had stopped playing the game when the lines between reality and the game began to blur.

We have only made some changes to it, to lend it a cinematic feel; but because it’s based on true incidents, there were limitations to that too."

While the music for the film is by Sushin Shyam with lyrics by Vinayak Sasikumar, cinematography is by Sanu Thahir and editing is by Kiran Das. The film has been bankrolled by John Paul George and Girish Gangadharan under the banner Guppy Cinemas. The film, which was made on a humble budget, emerged as a massive hit at the box office and had sent the cash registers ringing.
