Abir Chatterjee, Mimi Chakraborty, Victor Banerjee, and Anashua Majumdar play the main roles in the film
Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy will bring back the memory of the Khagragarh blast to the big screen. The director duo started their preparations. Abir Chatterjee, Mimi Chakraborty, Victor Banerjee, and Anashua Majumdar play the main roles in the film. Kanchan Mallik, Satyam Bhattacharya, and Ambarish Bhattacharya play supporting roles. The film's name is Roktobij. Its first poster is already released.
While much information came out in public, the makers elaborated on the other details. Why is such a theme chosen? Why will the film be released during Durgapuja? What did the directors say?
Shiboprosad shared various details about the film with ABP Ananda. He said, “It was October 2, 2014. The day was Ashtami of Durga Puja. In a two-floored building in Khagragarh, a blast took place. People daily saw the inhabitants of the house. They did not doubt those inhabitants, since it was an ordinary house in the locality. Everyone knew that firecrackers were made in the house, and hence they thought that it was the blast of firecrackers. Later, police and the NIA team came to investigate and found many blast instruments and bomb-making components in the house. This was a factory for making IEDs. The blast shook West Bengal. There are many questions regarding why the bombs were made, where they were sent, etc. The newspapers at that time were replete with the blast's news and many theories were born to answer those questions. One such theory caught our eyes. We thought that this could be developed into a film. We could materialize that plan in 2023. And yes, this is our first film in the thriller genre.”
The director said that since the actual event took place during Durgapuja, they want to release the film around the same time. Since the film tells the story of bomb-making, the name is given as Roktobij.
