Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani out on OTT: The extended version of Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt's rom-com lands for all subscribers

The Karan Johar-directed romantic saga was earlier available for rent on Prime Video for early access.

It's time for all Prime Video subscribers to rejoice, as Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has finally been made available to them. Almost three weeks after adding it to the Rent shelf, the streaming giant has dropped the Karan Johar film on their platform for subscribers. The romantic comedy film starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the titular roles is touted to be among the blockbusters of 2023.

A modern love story with deeper themes

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is a rollercoaster ride through an epic love story in a new-age era, complete with hearty laughter and questions about love, family, and the meaning of abandoning generations of family traditions in the name of love.

The Karan Johar-helmed saga marks his seventh film as a director of a feature film. Interestingly, the Prime Video version of Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani is 10 minutes longer than the theatrical runtime. These include deleted scenes and extended versions of songs.

An impressive ensemble cast

The film boasts a talented ensemble cast including Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Shabana Azmi, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Aamir Bashir, Churni Ganguly, Kshitee Jog, and Anjali Anand, along with Namit Das in a pivotal role.

Real-life inspiration

During a recent interview with Mid Day, Karan Johar shared an interesting fact about the "real-life" couple who inspired him for the film. The filmmaker revealed Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna as the couple and stated that perhaps subconsciously, he became inspired. In their marriage, they have a profound companionship, and Karan has shared meals and spent time with them. Additionally, the camaraderie between the individuals is tremendously ardent, as Twinkle finds Akshay amusing for different reasons than he finds her.
