Since its July 28 release, Karan Johar's romantic family drama Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani has performed well at the box office. Both critics and viewers have given the movie, which features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the key roles, favourable reviews. Along with cameo roles from seasoned actors like Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Ananya Panday, and Sara Ali Khan, the movie also stars veteran actors like Dharmendra, Shabana Azmi, and Jaya Bachchan.

The movie performed consistently during its first week, with only minor dips in ticket sales on weekdays. The movie made Rs. 6.90 crore on Wednesday, its 6th day. With this, the movie's domestic gross has reached Rs 67.12 crore, drawing ever-closer to the 70 crore threshold. The movie did well in foreign markets as well, taking in Rs 12.50 crore in its opening weekend.

Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani came out as a winner even after facing tough competition by two Hollywood releases, Oppenheimer and Barbie.

The film follows the love story of Rocky Randhawa (played by Ranveer Singh) and Rani Chatterjee ( played by Alia Bhatt), who belong to different backgrounds and cultures. Rocky and Rani who then live with each other's families to determine whether or not they get along with them gives the film a rollercoaster ride. The film is written by Ishita Moitra, Sumit Roy, and Shashank Khaitan.

After seven years, Karan Johar made his feature filmmaking debut with RARKPK. The director hadn't helmed a feature-length movie since 2016's Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, despite producing a few shorts for Netflix anthologies.
