The upcoming film marks the directorial debut of R. Madhavan, who also stars in it as the scientist. It will also have special appearances by Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya
R. Madhavan is making his directorial debut with the story of Nambi Narayanan, the former ISRO scientist and aerospace engineer who was falsely charged and arrested for espionage. Rocketry: The Nambi Effect explores his story, and the trailer of the film was recently unveiled at Expo 2022 Dubai. During the event, Narayanan revealed why he decided to say yes to a collaboration with Madhavan.
The scientist revealed that he wanted someone with a background in engineering to tell his life story, and Madhavan fitted the bill. Narayanan recalled when he was telling the actor a story about how he had once saved APJ Abdul Kalam’s life. When Narayanan talked about something to do with an imbalance in atmospheric pressure, Madhavan immediately understood what he meant. The scientist said that Madhavan was the ‘perfect choice’ for the role, which made telling his life story all the more easy.
During the event, Narayanan also imparted an important message about how, if one is convinced that they are on the side of truth, they should continue on their paths, no matter the obstacles. “And if you are wronged by somebody, don't leave the fight till the end," he added.
Simran, Rajat Kapoor, Ravi Raghavendra, Misha Ghoshal, Gulshan Grover, Karthik Kumar and Dinesh Prabhakar also feature in the film, while Shah Rukh Khan and Suriya will make special appearances. In addition to starring in the titular role, Madhavan has also written and directed the film and serves as one of its producers.
Rocketry: The Nambi Effect will be released in theatres on July 1, 2022. Shot simultaneously in Hindi, Tamil and English, the film will also be released in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.
