Robert Downey Jr Return Plan

It will be exactly a week tomorrow since the wildest announcement of the year concerning the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Robert Downey Jr. was announced as Doctor Doom, marking his return to the MCU after playing Iron Man, who died in Avengers: Endgame. The actor will now be on the bad side of the spectrum as the new big bad of the cinematic universe, replacing Jonathan Majors’ Kang the Conqueror. He has a film titled Avengers: Doomsday to himself, where he will create top-level havoc. While the anticipation has skyrocketed and fans have many questions, the rumor mills are working nonstop, and we have heard a lot of speculation. Nothing is confirmed, but the gossip sounds exciting.

Robert Downey Jr's Doctor Doom Plan

The biggest question around this news for the past week is how the studio plans to reintroduce Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU, considering he was also Iron Man. It was said that the Multiverse would provide a solution to this problem, as we will get to see RDJ playing a Tony Stark variant who goes bad and turns into Doctor Doom. However, there was no substantial proof to support this claim. But now a new rumor talks about the possible character arc for Victor Von Doom in the MCU. Read on to know everything about this.

According to My Time To Shine Hello, Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be more than just a villain. He is a complex character who is not truly evil. Just like Thanos, he thinks he is saving the Multiverse from incursions, making him quite interesting. So technically, he will be a sympathetic villain, as depicted in the comics. For the nerds, this is the storyline introduced in the Secret Wars mini-series comics in 2015.

In the tweet, My Time To Shine Hello wrote, "Doom isn’t truly evil; he believes he’s saving the Multiverse from incursions. According to his twisted logic, the only way for the Multiverse to survive is to unify all universes in one place (Battleworld) under his rule. He sees this as the sole path to ensuring survival for everyone."

Robert Downey Jr. will soon be seen as Doctor Doom in the MCU. He announced the same at San Diego Comic-Con, where the Russo Brothers were first introduced as the directors for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. The director duo ended up revealing Robert as the big bad. It was recently said that he would first appear in Fantastic Four: First Steps but this was soon dismissed. Avengers: Doomsday is set to release in May 2026.
