The film is being directed by Dr Suri, who has made films like Lucky, Kwatle Sathisha, among others, and produced by Hombale Films
Sriimurali’s first collaboration with Hombale Films, the producers of the magnum opus KGF saga and the in-production Prabhas-starrer Salaar, which was announced some time ago, went on floors today with an official muhurtha. Called Bagheera, the film is an action thriller written by KGF maker Prashanth Neel, who had earlier made Ugramm, known as Sriimurali's comeback movie.
Since Prashant is currently busy with his next, Salaar, direction responsibility of Bagheera has been handed to KGF star Yash’s right-hand man and filmmaker Dr Suri. A first look poster of the film had been released in December last year, on the occasion of Sriimurali’s birthday, wherein it appears that the actor will play a rough-and-tough cop. The muhurtha today was attended by Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films, Dr Suri and Sriimurali. Further details on the rest of the cast and crew are expected in the coming days. The makers are hopeful of adding Bagheera to its 2023 release slate. Major portions of the film will be shot across locations in the outskirts of Bengaluru and Mysuru, with some scenes to be canned in Hyderabad.
Sriimurali, who has been preparing for the role, has been quoted as saying that Bagheera is one of the best scripts that has come his way. Speaking to the New Indian Express, the Roaring Star said that the team had been working on pre-production for the past two years. Prashant’s script, he added, has been written based on Sriimurali’s strengths and the actor is hopeful of executing the former’s vision as best as possible.
Hombale Films, which is still basking in the success of the Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2, has a slew of upcoming productions. While Raghavendra Stores and Kantara will be up for release shortly, the banner has also announced films with actor-director Rakshit Shetty (Richard Anthony), Santhosh Ananddram’s Yuva Rajkumar launchpad, as well as a film with Soorarai Pottru director Sudha Kongara.
