Kakuda star Riteish Deshmukh talks about streaming platforms - 'OTT format will stay for a long, maybe...'

Riteish Deshmukh is all set to make his OTT debut with the crime thriller series Pill and the horror-comedy film Kakuda.

Riteish Deshmukh is all set to make his OTT debut soon. Interestingly, the actor will be making his digital debut with a show titled Pill as well as a movie titled Kakuda, which are both slated to release on 12th July 2024. While Pill is all set to release on Jio Cinema, Kakuda will be streaming on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium. Recently, in an interview, the Tujhe Meri Kasam actor spoke about his OTT debut.

As Riteish is all set to enter the streaming world with Pill and Kakuda, he recalled the time when he made his acting debut on the big screens with Tujhe Meri Kasam, co-starring Genelia D'Souza. In an interview with DNA, the actor said that he did not know what he was doing at that time. He stated, "It was just a new energy; we did what we had to do."

Sharing his excitement about starring in Pill, Riteish said that he has been waiting to make his OTT debut for a long but could not get his hands on the right script and subject. "Then Ronnie (Screwala, producer) sir and Raj (Kumar Gupta, director) came together, and formed a terrific duo. Pill is a clutter-breaker show," he added.

In the same interview, the actor also talked about how OTT platforms have grown and will stay forever. He stated, “OTT format will stay for a long, maybe forever.” According to him, filmmakers get more freedom on digital platforms to create content without having to rush things. Even the story can be bigger and makers don't have to stress about editing the story short. The actor concluded by saying that due to OTT platforms, even the actors are getting good work.

Meanwhile, Riteish Deshmukh's upcoming show Pill will stream on Jio Cinema from July 12. His film Kakuda, co-starring Sonakshi Sinha and Saqib Saleem will also start streaming from July 12 on ZEE5 and OTTplay Premium.
