Riteish Deshmukh releases teaser poster of his Marathi directorial debut, wife Genelia to star in it

After 20 years into acting, Riteish Deskhmukh has decided to step into the shoes of a director and create a film from behind the camera. The actor will make his directorial debut with a Marathi film, titled Ved.

The actor took to social media to make the big announcement. He shared a teaser poster of the film along with the release date. He captioned the post both in Marathi and English and sought blessings and good wishes from his fans and colleagues. He wrote: "After being in front of the camera for 20 years, I take a big leap to stand behind it for the first time.

As I direct my first marathi film, i humbly ask you all for your good wishes and blessings. Be a part of this journey, be a part of this madness.

The film is touted to be a romantic movie and stars his wife Genelia Deshmukh, Jiya Shankar and Riteish himself. The Ajay-Atul musical will release on August 12, 2022.

Riteish made his acting debut in the Marathi film industry with the 2014 film Lai Bhaari, which was directed by Nishikant Kamat. The actor has earlier backed Marathi films like Balak Palak, Lai Bhaari and Faster Fene.
