It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that after the K.G.F. franchise, Rishab Shetty's Kantara is one of the most talked about films churned out from the Sandalwood industry in recent times. The film, which has opened to uber positive reviews, has taken the box office by storm. And buoyed by the success of the film, it is being dubbed and released in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam as well. Today, the trailer of the Tamil version was released by Ponniyin Selvan star Karthi.

Taking to his social media page, Karthi wrote, "What a spectacular trailer… v happy to share it with you all dear ones. The Tamil version will be presented by SR Prabhu of DreamWarrior Productions.

The action thriller is written and directed by Rishab Shetty, who also plays the lead character in the film. Rishab plays Shiva, a Kambala athlete, while Kishore plays an honest forest officer called Muralidhar. The plot is set in the 19th century when a king offers a piece of land to the local tribals in exchange for a deity that would give him peace and happiness. Generations later, the king's successor demands that the land be returned to him, that too, during the Bhoota Kala Festival.
The star cast includes Rishab Shetty, Kishore, Sapthami Gowda, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty and Naveen Padli to name a few. Music is by Ajaneesh Loknath. Cinematography is by Arvind S Kashyap and editing is by KM Prakash and Pratheek Shetty.

After word of mouth spread, theatres across Tamil Nadu have been adding extra shows for the film. The Tamil version, which is slated for release on October 16, is said to have an early morning release, which is a rare for a Kannada film and is also usually reserved for the top stars in the Tamil industry.
