As a sign of respect to the late director Siddique, the team of Dulquer Salmaan’s King of Kotha announced that they have decided to postpone the release of the much-awaited trailer of the gangster actioner.

Director Siddique, who had helmed popular movies such as Godfather, Ramji Rao Speaking, Hitler, Friends and Bodyguard, had passed away on Tuesday after suffering a heart attack at a private hospital in Kochi. The filmmaker had been undergoing treatment for liver-related ailments for the past few months.

Siddique, who started his career as an assistant director to Fazil, had helmed several superhits including In Harihar Nagar along with Lal. The films have had a huge appeal among the Malayali audience.

During his solo directorial career, Siddique worked the most with Mammootty – in films such as Hitler, Chronic Bachelor and Bhaskar The Rascal. The filmmaker’s demise is sure to leave a huge void in the industry as his brand of films came with a mix of humour as well as emotions that struck a chord with the family as well as the youth audience.

Dulquer’s King of Kotha trailer was set to be released on August 9 by superstar Suriya and Mohanlal, who himself had posted a touching tribute to Siddique, calling him his “big brother”. Mohanlal was part of Siddique’s first film as an assistant director, Nokkatha Doorathu Kannum Nattu, and had also starred in his final movie, Big Brother. Suriya too had worked with Siddique in the Tamil remake of Friends, which also starred Vijay.
