Rifle Club: Soubin Shahir's next with Aashiq Abu gets a title

Director Aashiq Abu has announced his next project. Titled Rifle Club, the film has Soubin Shahir and Dileesh Pothan in lead roles. Aashiq's production company, OPM Cinemas, shared the title of the film while giving a casting call for the film.

Rifle Club is jointly written by Sharfu-Suhas and Dileesh Karunakaran. Rex Vijayan has been roped in as the music composer and V Sajan as the editor.

Aashiq is collaborating with Soubin and Dileesh Pothan after the 2019 film Virus, which was set against the backdrop of the 2018 Nipah virus outbreak in Kerala.

Aashiq's last film to hit theatres was Neelavelicham, which had Tovino Thomas and Rima Kallingal in lead roles. The film was a remake of the 1964 Malayalam film Bhargavi Nilayam, which was based on the short story Neelavelicham by Vaikom Muhammad Basheer.

Aashiq Abu's foray into cinematography

Aashiq recently forayed into cinematography by cranking the camera for Dileesh Karunakaran's film Lovely, which stars Mathew Thomas in the lead role. The first look of the film sparked curiosity as it featured a giant housefly standing in front of Mathew. The film is touted as a fantasy thriller.

Soubin Shahir's upcoming projects

Soubin is currently busy with the shoot of Lal Jr's Nadikar Thilakam, which has Tovino Thomas in the lead role. He plays an important role in the film, which revolves around the life of an actor.

Soubin has wrapped up the shooting of Manjummel Boys, which is helmed by Jan E Man director Chidambaram. The film deals with travel and also stars Sreenath Bhasi, Ganapathi, and Balu Varghese in pivotal roles.

Soubin Shahir to direct Dulquer Salmaan?

There are rumours that Soubin's next directorial project could possibly feature Dulquer Salmaan. The two had planned to collaborate on a project last year titled Othiram Kadakam, but the pre-production was halted for various reasons.

It remains unclear whether their film together will be Othiram Kadakam or an entirely new project.
