In her recent Instagram stories, film producer Rhea Kapoor has criticised those who are generalizing her projects as "women centred." Rhea has produced films such as Aisha Veere Di Wedding, and Khoobsurat, which are considered by a few as stereotyped and headlined by female characters.

Rhea posted on Instagram, saying, "What the f**k is a 'woman-centric' film? Can someone tell me? Can someone announce a 'man-centric' one soon? or is that just a given?" She further went on to add, "I'm not interested in making 'woman-centric' films. My films just happen to have women in them. I think they are braver and more fun. Also heroes are just too sensitive and emotional. Too much chik-chik. Na?"

A few years ago, Rhea stated in an interview with Mumbai Mirror that she was confident in making movies about ‘young women’. She added, “It's a genre I enjoy working with. I want to do other things as well, but this is my comfort zone. There's not much for young girls to watch and relate to in Hindi films.”

According to a Pinkvilla report, talks are going on with regard to creating a sequel to Veere Di Wedding. However, Kareena Kapoor Khan has denied these rumours, claiming that she is working with Rhea for a fresh script with an intriguing narrative. Kareena also said that their film will mostly focus on women and that Rhea has cast young actresses. She said, “Rhea will make the announcement soon. The film is not about stars; instead, it’s about [strong] women coming together.”

On the other hand, Rhea, the daughter of Anil Kapoor, made her debut as a film producer with Rajshree Ojha directed film Aisha in 2010. Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor played key roles in the movie. Later, she produced the 2018 film Veere Di Wedding and the 2014 film Khoobsurat both of which had Sonam in the lead.
