The workspace, capturing the many high points in his career, truly represents his philosophy in life
Ram Gopal Varma, whose swanky office in Mumbai - RGV Company - made headlines for its architecture on the lines of a gangster’s haven, has remodelled his workspace in Hyderabad with style. His Hyderabad office is now called RGV Den, which the filmmaker says, is based on Ayn Rand’s philosophy from Fountainhead about the decor of a workplace.
While introducing his office to viewers through a couple of videos on his Youtube channel, the Shiva, Satya director shared, “The office is based on philosopher Ayn Rand’s line from Fountainhead which said that the decor of a work place should reflect the interior of the mind of the person who runs it.” Living upto her words, the interiors are filled with quotes, images, representing the high points of his career, his ethos, eccentricities, (the lack of a) belief system.
He has released two videos that offer an ‘ant view’ and ‘eagle view’ of the office. The front view of the office bears the famous image of RGV seated on a comfy chair and the stairs leading to the office is filled with graffiti-style quotes like ‘believers will be fired’, ‘non believers will be hired’. The entrance opens with the filmmaker’s image with Nagarjuna and Amitabh Bachchan.
There are a handful of bodyguards in the office space designed more like a jungle with greenery lending an earthy dimension to it. Right within the reception, he pays homage to Urmila’s beauty, his favourite star Amitabh Bachchan besides showcasing his love for partying. From his images with Mia Malkova to Sridevi, Aishwarya Rai to Sanjay Dutt, AR Rahman, the walls shed light on his tryst with filmdom with earnestness.
Nearly every prominent actor who has associated with RGV finds a place in his office which truly is a world of its own and has an undeniable personality to it. RGV Den is a celebration of everything that the filmmaker believes and doesn’t. Musician Keertana Sesh has even come up with a special song about it, which has lyrics and dialogues by Rajasekhar Sudmoon and Shashikanth Billapati.
“RGV Den is a place that opens my mind to the public. It has images and quotes that make me feel happy, excited and motivated. The only thing that keeps going away from us is time and I want to squeeze every inch of the space and time. It is just a demonstration of what my mind looks like. I love powerful men and beautiful men. Powerful men are about intelligence who make things happen. Women have an additional aspect - beauty and I say this as a man,” RGV said.
“Anyone who comes here wants to work with me and this imagery will help them understand me subconsciously without having the need to explain, introduce and convince myself. I had this idea in my mind for many years and I’m working on this with my business partner - Ravi Varma, who was very excited to make it happen. The lighting is supposed to attract people, woo them,” he added.
RGV Den is a concept, idea and a beehive of talent, the office will be hub of all forms of storytelling - films, web shows, the filmmaker said in a video.
