In the wake of the RG Kar protest, actress Rituparna Sengupta went to Shyambazar. However, the actress faced a ‘go back' slogan from the protesters. Some of the protesters banged on her car and tried to bully her. Rituparna was compelled to leave the place. Many Tollywood celebrities stood by her side.

Sudipta Chakraborty has been by the side of the movement since its start. She condemned the protest against Rituparna and shared a post, ‘You may not like her opinion and you perhaps did not like the video made by her. Ok. You raised the slogan ‘go back’ against her. That is also acceptable. She left that place after hearing you. But is it right to attack her car? That’s horrible. I am condemning it.”

Sudipta recalled that the movement was for a woman. ‘Did you forget that you are reclaiming the night for girls?’ In the end, she wrote, “People from Kolkata, I condemn what you did to Rituparna.”

Kamaleswar Mukherjee condemned the incident and wrote, “I protest the inhuman incident. Everybody can take part in a movement. No one can stop others.” Ananya Chatterjee wrote ‘I protest the insult of Rituparna Sengupta. I ask people to choose their battles. Many people will want to divert us. Please don’t let them succeed.’

Jeetu Kamal wrote, “These are not right. Please don’t show over-enthusiasm.” 

Kolkata has been witnessing unprecedented protest after the murder and rape of an on-duty doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. People from different walks of life — celebrities, teachers, doctors, and many others — joined the protest. Sohini Sarkar, Swastika Mukherjee, Sudipta, Bidipta Chakraborty, Ushasie Chakraborty, Ushasi Ray, Ditipriya Roy, and several others joined the protest. Rituparna condemned the incident. But she was trolled after a video in which she played a conch. Rituparna clarified that she would not step back from the protest. Earlier, Swastika was trolled for posting a smiling selfie from a protest venue. The actress slammed the trolls and declared that she would choose her own gesture to protest.
