The film business took a backseat in such an atmosphere, and some filmmakers are worried about their films' release.
Protests are going on all over West Bengal over the heinous rape and murder of the doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital earlier this month. Common people as well as celebrities are coming to the streets every day with the slogan, ‘We want justice’. The film business took a backseat in such an atmosphere and some makers are worried about their film’s release.
A number of announcements and trailer launches of films, including Shibiprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy’s Bohurupee, were postponed. Recently, the release of the film Onko Ki Kothin, directed by Sourav Palodhi, was postponed. The release of Jamalaye Jibanta Bhanu, starring Saswata Chatterjee, was also postponed. Now, according to a report, Parambrata Chatterjee’s directorial venture Ei Rat Tomar Amar, is the new addition to the list. However, the production house SVF did not make any official announcement.
Anjan Dutta and Aparna Sen play the lead in the film. The teaser recently came out. The film was supposed to be released on August 30 in the theaters and on September 6 in Hoichoi. However, sources claim that the makers do not want to take any risk in these circumstances.
On August 15, Babli, directed by Raj Chakraborty, and Padatik, directed by Srijit Mukherji, were released. But the industry reports say that common people currently don’t want to watch films. They are waiting for justice. Hence both films incurred financial losses. Hence the makers of other films are worried about releasing their projects. Several films are supposed to be released in September. Their release might also get postponed.
