The actor-comedian is all geared up for the release of his fourth standup special after Vir Das: Outside In, For India, Losing It
Actor-comedian and global artiste Vir Das is gearing up for the release of his fourth standup special series, titled Vir Das Landing, on Netflix. The special encapsulates a capstone to Vir having performed the show 183 times in over 25 countries around the world.
Speaking of the new release, Vir said, "It’s exciting to be ending the year with this brand-new special. We had a great time recording it in New York."
Sharing more details about the show, he said that they shot for this comedy special this year, between a hectic world tour titled Wanted. The artiste is looking forward to the new show and he is especially excited about reaching out to the global audience through an OTT platform.
"I hope that we get the same love that we have received so far for the three other specials that have come out," Vir said.
Earlier, he created, performed and released a standup special show titled Vir Das: Outside In, For India, Losing It.
Being multi-talented, Vir started his career not only as a standup comedian, but also as an actor and appeared in Bollywood films like Badmaash Company, Delhi Belly and Go Goa Gone. His performance in the Netflix original web series Hasmukh, which he also wrote, received a lot of appreciation from the audience globally.
His show, the standup special Vir Das: For India received a 2021 Emmy nomination in the Best Comedy category. Last year, his monologue that he performed the Kennedy Center in the USA, called Two Indias, received a polarised reaction as he pointed out the reality of Indian society, especially the socio-economic situation and gender inequality.
Vir is currently developing a single-camera comedy with Fox, CBS Studios and American actor Andy Samberg’s production company, Party Over Here.
Vir Das Landing is produced by Rotten Science, with Matthew Vaughan as the executive producer. It releases on Netflix on December 26.
