The 2023 blockbuster Tamil film is coming with a sequel soon, which will be once again directed by Nelson Dilipkumar
Still from Jailer
After the immense success of Jailer in 2023, Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures announced to make a sequel this year. Not only that, even Nelson Dilipkumar has been roped in to direct the sequel once again. Today we got to learn back-to-back 2 big news about Jalier 2. First one, Jalier 2 will begin filming this June, and second is the original title of the film, which is Hukum.
Jailer is the highest grossing film of the year in the Tamil industry. It has collected Rs.650 crore at the box office. It's quite surprising yet expected that Rajinikanth’s film can make such a massive success, even at the age of 73. According to a few sources of Pinkvilla, the first draft of the sequel is already sealed, and the team is very satisfied with the concept of Nelson.
The source also revealed that the audience will get to watch some more interesting variations of Rajinikanth in Hukum. Even his concept has been well received by the megastar himself. The pre-production work will begin soon in June, and it will go on floor at the end of 2024, once Shivaji-star wraps up the shooting of Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Thalaivar 171. It is said that Hukum, aka Jailer 2 is supposed to release early 2025.
The source revealed that the title Hukum has been selected because this phrase became synonymous with Rajinikanth after the release of Jailer. At the beginning the makers were in a dilemma whether to keep it as Jailer 2 or Hukum, but after the whole crew agreed with Hukum, they sealed the title.
The film Jailer tells the story of Muthuvel Pandian, a jailer known for his strict demeanour balanced by a surprising well of empathy. When a daring prison break threatens to free a dangerous criminal, Muthuvel must take action and prevent their escape.
