The film, written and directed by Shiva Nirvana, releases on September 1
Samantha and Vijay Deverakonda
Vijay Deverakonda is returning to the big screen nearly a year after his previous film Liger. He is teaming up with Samantha for Kushi, a relationship drama written and directed by Shiva Nirvana and produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers. Ahead of its release on September 1 across five languages, the makers wrapped up the censor formalities today.
Sharing the censor report of the film on social media, the publicity team wrote, ‘Locked and loaded.’ The film has been certified U/A by the CBFC and has a runtime of 165 minutes, definitely on the lengthier side in comparison to most films releasing every weekend. Yet, one must pay heed to the fact films like Baby, with a runtime of nearly three hours, managed to keep viewers invested too.
Shiva Nirvana has constantly reiterated that the film is relatable to audiences from the age group of 6 to 60, be it single men/women or those who’re married or are the verge of marriage. The promos suggest that the maker has borrowed heavily from Mani Ratnam’s celebrated relationship drama Alaipayuthey starring Madhavan and Shalini.
Kushi revolves around a free-spirited youngster Viplav who falls in love with a Muslim girl from Kashmir. However, the latter turns out to be a Brahmin girl Aradhya from a conservative family. Despite facing opposition from parents for the inter-religious marriage and horoscope issues, Viplav and Aradhya tie the knot. After initial marital bliss, there’s trouble in the paradise.
Will Viplav and Aradhya rise above the issues in their relationship? Jayaram, Sachin Khedakar, Murali Sharma, Lakshmi, Ali, Rohini, Vennela Kishore, Rahul Ramakrishna, Srikanth Iyengar and Saranya Pradeep play other key roles in Kushi which marks the Telugu debut of Malayalam composer Hesham Abdul Wahab. The songs have turned out to be a major advantage for Kushi ahead of its release.
