The actor was waiting for an intriguing story to be part of, and SonyLiv's Kafas, also starring Mona Singh and Mikail Gandhi, was the perfect fit
Actor Sharman Joshi has played memorable roles in films like Rang De Basanti, Life in a... Metro, Dhol, 3 Idiots, and many other films. After a long gap, he is happy and proud to be part of a web series like Kafas that deals with a sensitive issue like child sexual abuse.
When OTTplay asked him what his first reaction to the script of the show was, he said, "I finished reading the entire script of six episodes at a time. I was personally going through a phase where not a lot of interesting material was coming my way. Sahil (Sanga, director) sent me the script after Mukesh (Chabda, casting director and actor) suggested my name. I started reading the script and was stunned from the very first episode. I could not stop reading it until the end. I was very impressed with the material. I immediately called Sahil and said that I was willing to be part of the show."
The show is an Indian adaptation of the British show Dark Money, by Levi David Addai, which was released in 2019. The Hindi series is written by Karan Sharma and directed by Sahil Sangha.
The story of Kafas revolves around a child actor named Sunny Vashist who becomes the victim of sexual abuse on the set of a film. While child actor Mikail Gandhi plays Sunny, Sharman plays Raghav Vashisht, his father.
Kafas also stars Preeti Jhangiani, Zarina Wahab, Jyoti Gauba, and Geetanjali Mishra and is available to stream on SonyLIV.
