Challenging Star Darshan was among 13 others arrested in the murder of 33-year-old Chitradurga resident Renukaswamy on June 11 and has been in police custody
Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa, who has been in police custody, since his arrest in connection with the Renukswamy murder on June 11, has been sent back to the cops for further investigation until June 20. Darshan is accused number 2 in the case. His lawyer had appealed to the court to send him into judicial custody, but the judge approved the police’s request for an extension. However, this is on the condition that the accused are allowed access to legal counsel and are not subjected to any form of police torture.
From the time he was arrested, Darshan has, apparently been sticking to one version of events. Yes, he was aware that Renukaswamy had been picked up from Chitradurga and brought to Bengaluru to be warned about sending derogatory messages to his partner of 10 years, Pavitra Gowda. Darshan has claimed that he was not a part of the ‘torture’, and that he’d asked his boys to feed Renukaswamy and let him go.
More trouble for Darshan? Questions arise about disappearance of ex-manager
For the uninitiated, Kannada superstar Darshan was arrested in the morning of June 11, after police found a connection between the actor and 4 men who claimed to have been involved in the death of a man who was found dead in a storm water drain in Bengaluru. Upon questioning the men who had surrendered, a distinct connect with the actor came up.
Renukaswamy murder: Pavitra Gowda is accused number 1; Darshan accused number 2
The deceased, Renukaswamy was a fan of the actor, who was unhappy about his relationship with Pavitra and had sent the latter derogatory messages and, allegedly, obscene images. Renukaswamy was brought to Bengaluru supposedly to scare him off, but this went out of hand, resulting in his death. There are allegations that the actor was also involved in the beating of Renukaswamy, who suffered multiple injuries and succumbed to the same.
